Review: Situated in Covent Garden, The Atlantic bar was opened in 2008 as a more informal sister to the iconic J Sheekey next door. The atmosphere is fairly casual and you can eat either around the horseshoe-shaped oyster bar or on tables overlooking the open kitchen.
The food focuses on top quality seafood, fish, shellfish and oysters in a tapas type format.
The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and clearly knew what they were doing!
The “J”, in J Sheekey, is for Josef, the market stall holder who, in 1893, was allowed by Lord Salisbury to sell fish and shellfish on his land at St Martin’s Court, as long as he also served food to his theatre going friends!
Today it is part of Richard Caring’s Caprice Holdings portfolio, that owns the eponymous Ivy and Le Caprice restaurants, and many more!
