Executive Chef: Corrado Corti – following cookery school he worked on a seasonal basis in prestigious kitchens in Courmayeur, Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Costa Smeralda and on the Princess cruise ships. Belmond Splendido Hotel
Belmond own and operate some of the most luxurious, iconic hotels in the world. The Splendido Hotel is a jewel in their crown. It is located in a 16th-century monastery building with fabulous views overlooking Portofino and the Gulf of Tigallio, on Italy’s beautiful Ligurian coast.
Many stars have visited the hotel: Orson Welles, Ingrid Bergman, Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart, and Liz Taylor were frequent guests.
The accommodation, service and food are all outstanding. Dinner at the Terrazza restaurant, with its stupendous view and fabulous food, is an experience not to be missed. This is a hotel and restaurant experience I can highly recommend. Everything was exceptional.
During and after dinner, the very talented in-house pianist, Vladi Gatto, dressed in a different coloured sequined jacket each evening, provides superb entertainment in the restaurant and bar.

Review: Everything about this hotel and restaurant leaves a lasting impression of high quality and luxury.
The food in the restaurant showcases high-quality local produce. The dishes in the Terrazza Restaurant are not overly complex, with fresh fish, superb meat dishes and subtle sauce combinations. The menu also includes some classic pasta dishes that are popular with guests. All of the dishes we tried were superb. I could quite easily work my way through the whole menu and try a different dish each night of my holiday!
The wine list was very extensive and includes a wide selection of quality Italian wines, and others from around the world. The grappa selection in the bar is extensive, and I would need a few weeks to work my way through them.
The Pool Grill restaurant serves simple grilled fresh fish, meat and pizzas, and all are very well cooked.
The staff in both restaurants are all very friendly and extremely well trained. They really know their trade and make great efforts to provide very high-quality service.
The restaurant setting is breath-taking. Sitting outside on a warm Italian evening on the Splendido terrace, overlooking the Gulf, sipping fine wine and eating the best Italian food…..what more can you ask for!
